A record breaking Christmas campaign

Where we started

Since 2015, we’ve had the honor and pleasure to produce the Christmas campaign for the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), an independent NGO that works to restore the good ecological balance of the Baltic Sea. Each year, there has been a new distinctive concept for the Christmas fundraising. Marketing agency Taivas was responsible for the creative and visual design of the campaign, and our team carried out technical implementation.

What we did

As planning started as early as August – even before the final concept was nailed – we began to think about technical details. Donating should be easy and fun. In 2016, the donors were fish in an aquarium. Each donor got their own fish, complete with their logo. The more donors, the
more fish in the sea.

In 2017, the idea was to give the Baltic Sea a gift of oxygen, an odorless, tasteless and colorless Christmas gift that saves the Baltic Sea. Together with Taivas, we created a Christmas tree made of oxygen bubbles. Each donation made the tree grow and added to the three a decoration with the logo of the donor.

It was critical that participating should be easy. Donors should not be lost in the process. Firstly, it was easy to start donating by choosing one of three nice decorations in different price categories and then go ahead with the payment. Secondly, the donation was rewarded immediately. As soon as the donation was made, the tree got a new decoration with the donor’s logo. Thirdly, it was convenient and fast for the donor to start using the campaign material in their own communications, as banners in three different languages were automatically emailed to the

As our Creative Director Monica says, this has always been a dear project for us:

“Our team was very engaged: being a part of something meaningful raised the spirits for everyone. People at BSAG are wonderful and it’s a great pleasure to work with them. When we heard a week before Christmas that all previous donation records had been broken, we all
cheered and gave each other high fives.”

We were glad to hear that Pieta Jarva, Communication Manager at BSAG, has also enjoyed working with us:

Working with you has been flexible and great fun! The fact that the technical side works without a hitch makes it possible for us to devote most of our time to the core issue, which is saving the Baltic Sea. This is important as everyone in our fundraising team is primarily involved in other activities.
